The candle arch has been part of the Erzgebirge Christmas as a festival of lights for more than 250 years. The first candle arch was made by blacksmith Johann Teller in Johanngeorgenstadt as a wrought-iron work in 1726. The form of the arch goes back to the Erzgebirge mining tradition. For their last shift before Christmas, miners hung their lamps around the outline of the mine entrance, so the lights formed an arch. The cloud motif that can be seen on many of our candle arches and the patented inside illumination are distinct features of products from our workshop.

In the middle of an idyllic forest landscape stands a thatched half-timbered house, from whose chimney smoke rises and conveys cozy comfort. Windows and doors are lit up, while the roof and half-timbering are accentuated in colour. An industrious lumberjack prepares for winter and carefully stacks firewood. His lively puppy jumps up to remind him of the approaching end of the day. Not far from the house is a hunter's decency. All figures are made of solid wood and painted in colour. The indirectly installed LED lighting with USB power connection bathes the candle arch in a warm, atmospheric light and creates a cosy room atmosphere. Since 1987, RATAGS Kunsthandwerk GmbH has stood for high-quality wooden art from the Ore Mountains.
